Germany’s Famous Rugen Cliffs

The Rugen Cliffs have been one of Germany’s most popular vacation spots for many years. In fact Albert Einstein traveled there. Rugen, the largest island in Germany is located in the Baltic Sea to the northwest off the coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is famous for its spectacular views, quiet fishing villages, romantic spas and resorts, and most importantly the chalk-white cliffs. These famous cliffs were first brought to attention by the art of a romantic painter named Caspar Friedrich. That’s the story of the Rugen Cliffs.
